The holiday season has not deterred gambling behavior among Ontarians, as the latest igaming market financial data for December demonstrates another month-over-month peak in non-adjusted gross gaming revenue (NAGGR).

The December financial igaming statistics reaffirm Ontario’s status as one of the leading regulated markets globally in terms of GGR.
As reported by iGaming Ontario, which regulates and manages the online gaming sector in the region, total cash wagers for December amounted to CAD $9.501 billion, marking a two percent rise from November’s record of $9.33 billion.
Revenues Surpass $425 Million
December witnessed a total NAGGR of $425.4 million, setting another record for Ontario, representing a five percent increase from the previous month.
Active player accounts experienced a slight decrease of two percent compared to November, totaling 1,276. However, the average revenue per active player account surged by seven percent to $334.
The casino sector retained its stronghold in December, with cash wagers reaching $8.270 billion, accounting for 87% of the market share—a four percent increase from November. Sports betting accrued $1.089 billion with an 11 percent market share, reflecting a 13 percent drop month-over-month. Meanwhile, peer-to-peer poker rose by nine percent, achieving $141 million in cash wagers, representing a one percent market share.
Casino Revenue Dominance in Canadian Gaming
In terms of revenue, the casino sector generated $320.5 million, marking an eight percent month-over-month uplift for a 75% market share. Sports betting revenue stood at $99.1 million, a three percent decrease from November, securing a 23% market share. Peer-to-peer poker generated $5.8 million but experienced a seven percent decline month-over-month, retaining a one percent market share.
