WarHorse Lincoln, the second-largest casino in Nebraska, is progressing into Phase 3 of its construction plan. This upcoming phase aims to incorporate over 1,100 new slot machines and 18 table games, alongside additional dining options, with the enhancement expected to be completed by summer 2027.
Construction for the next phase kicks off on Monday, February 9. To facilitate this work, the casino’s southeast parking lot will be closed. Casino management has announced that a different parking area will be provided, along with complimentary shuttle services to ensure guests can access the facility during renovations.
The casino will stay open and fully functioning throughout Phase 3, with measures established to guarantee continued guest access.
New features planned for this construction phase include the Nebraska Ale Haus, a sports bar, and the Big Fire Chop House, a steakhouse concept. These establishments are set to debut alongside the expanded gaming area as development proceeds.
Lance Morgan, president and CEO of Ho-Chunk Inc., the parent company of WarHorse Lincoln, remarked that this endeavor marks a crucial advance in the property’s evolution.
“While visitors might notice alterations during the construction period, the final outcome will be a substantially improved destination—offering enhanced dining options, more entertainment choices, and an overall superior experience,” Morgan stated.
The expansion is expected to encompass approximately 74,000 square feet and cost around $70 million, as highlighted by Morgan previously.
The Lincoln casino opened its doors in September 2022. A second construction phase was finalized in November 2024, adding various table games and additional slot machines. Initially, the commencement of the casino’s third phase was projected for the spring of 2026.
There are also plans for a fourth construction phase, which is set to begin shortly after the completion of Phase 3. This phase will introduce a hotel and event center, as stated by Lynne McNally, CEO of the Nebraska Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association and director of government relations at WarHorse.
