- Circa, D Las Vegas, and Golden Gate resorts launched a currency parity initiative aimed at Canadian travelers a month ago
- The number of Canadian tourists visiting Las Vegas has been declining over the past year
- This currency parity initiative is available until August 31 of this year
Are Circa Resort & Casino, the D Las Vegas, and Golden Gate Hotel & Casino onto something significant by providing Canadians with a unique offer where they can book accommodations at par with the U.S. dollar ($1 USD equates to $1 CAD)? This move may encourage Canadians to overlook recent boycotts of U.S. travel due to past comments made by U.S. President Donald Trump and lingering tariff disputes.

2,700 Hotel Nights Reserved
Indeed, it appears they might be. Over the past 30 days since the currency parity program’s launch, more than 15,000 Canadian travelers booked 2,700 hotel nights at these resorts. The initiative is set to continue until August 31. “Vegas at Par” applies to select accommodations, drinks, entertainment, and gaming options.
Derek Stevens, the owner and CEO, stated that they have also scheduled a free concert featuring the Canadian band Finger Eleven for Fremont Street on June 27, coinciding with Canada Day on July 1, in addition to a ticketed event with B.C.-based DJ Excision on April 24-25, also at par prices.
“We wanted to elevate the experience since the turnout has been fantastic,” Stevens shared in a message over X.
Many Canadians express frustration towards the U.S., and this sentiment has been widely discussed, contributing to a boycott of travel to the U.S. A recent Abacus poll indicated that a notable 33% of surveyed Canadians would feel negatively about friends or family members who traveled to Las Vegas’ Harry Reid International Airport, reflecting a shift in perception where travel has become a moral dilemma for many.
Response to Canadian Boycott
“These hotels are attempting to tackle the issue with promotional means, when it is fundamentally a more complex problem,” remarked Christopher Whyte, a travel agent with Freestone Travel based outside of Toronto. “The costs are merely a fraction of the issue.”
Harry Reid International Airport reported a 34.2% drop in passengers arriving from Canadian airports on Air Canada in January compared to January 2025, along with a 30.3% decline on Porter Airlines and a 27.9% decrease via WestJet.
Canada ranks as the primary international market for Las Vegas. Though they do not constitute the majority, they are significant high spenders – 1.4 million Canadians visited in 2024, with convenient flights from Toronto, Calgary, and Vancouver.
Currency Exchange Program Details
As previously noted, Canadian travel to the U.S. has been on a consistent downward trend since early 2025. Statistics Canada reveals that Canadian residents made 5.9 million trips that included an outbound visit to the United States during the third quarter of 2025, marking a steep year-over-year decline of 34.7%.
Canadian visitors can earn up to $500 CAD in slot promotional play, treated at full U.S. dollar value, by visiting Club One at Circa, the D, or Golden Gate while presenting a valid Canadian passport or government-issued ID. Slot play is applicable on selected machines at each venue.
It’s worth noting that Canadian guests do not need to stay at the hotels to take advantage of this promotion.
