- Circa, D Las Vegas, and Golden Gate resorts kick-started a currency parity initiative aimed at Canadian visitors a month ago
- Visitor numbers from Canada to Las Vegas have declined over the last year
- The currency parity promotion is valid until August 31 of this year
Circa Resort and Casino, along with D Las Vegas and Golden Gate resorts, has devised a potential remedy for the Canadian travel boycott by permitting guests from Canada to book accommodations at an equal value as the U.S. dollar.

2,700 Hotel Nights Reserved
Indeed, over 15,000 Canadians have recently flocked to the resorts, resulting in 2,700 hotel nights booked since the launch of the currency parity program. This initiative lasts until August 31, offering select hotel accommodations, beverages, entertainment, and gaming experiences at par.
Derek Stevens, owner and CEO, announced in a statement that they have scheduled a complimentary concert featuring Canadian band Finger Eleven on Fremont Street on June 27, coinciding with Canada Day on July 1. A ticketed event with B.C. DJ Excision is also set for April 24-25.
“We aimed to elevate the experience since the response has been fantastic,” Stevens mentioned in a message via X.
Many Canadians harbor frustration towards the U.S., sparking discussions surrounding a travel boycott. Recent polls indicated that 33% of surveyed Canadians would hold negative sentiments towards friends or family members who traveled to Las Vegas’ Harry Reid International Airport. For many, travel has evolved into a moral dilemma.
Canadian Travel Boycott
“Hotels are attempting to resolve the situation through transactional means, but the issue transcends mere transactions,” stated Christopher Whyte, a travel advisor with Freestone Travel in the Greater Toronto Area. “Costs represent only a fraction of the challenge.”
Data from Harry Reid International Airport shows a 34.2% decline in travelers arriving via Air Canada from Canadian airports in January compared to January 2025, with similar drops of 30.3% on Porter Airlines and 27.9% on WestJet.
Canada remains the primary international market for Las Vegas. While they don’t constitute the majority, they are significant spenders—1.4 million Canadians traveled there in 2024 due to the quick flight options from Toronto, Calgary, and Vancouver.
Currency Exchange Initiative
We’ve previously documented the consistent decline in Canadian travel to the U.S. since early 2025. As per Statistics Canada, Canadian residents made 5.9 million trips that included an outbound visit to the U.S. in Q3 2025, reflecting a drastic drop of 34.7% year-over-year.
Canadian guests are eligible to receive up to $500 CAD in slot promotional play, honored at full U.S. dollar value, by visiting Club One at Circa, the D, or Golden Gate, provided they present a valid Canadian passport or government-issued ID. Participating machines at each venue will host slot play.
Notably, Canadian guests are not required to stay at the hotels to take advantage of this promotion.
