- Bally’s Marquette is set to launch its new physical casino on March 13
- The facility represents a $26.2 million investment into a land-based gaming venue
- This casino takes the place of the long-standing Casino Queen Marquette riverboat
Bally’s Marquette is preparing to unveil its new physical casino later this week.

On Monday, Bally’s Corporation announced that Bally’s Marquette will officially open its land-based casino and amenities this Friday, March 13. The transition replaces the previous Casino Queen riverboat after a $26.2 million redevelopment.
“The official transition to Bally’s Marquette marks a pivotal moment for our team, visitors, and the local community,” stated Robin Corbeil, the general manager. “With our relocation to land complete, Bally’s Marquette offers a modern gaming experience, enhanced dining selections, and a welcoming environment that pays homage to our riverfront heritage while positioning us for future success.”
The new casino encompasses 31,280 square feet, featuring over 400 slot machines and electronic table gaming options. Additionally, live dealer blackjack and Ultimate Texas Hold’em are available, along with a sportsbook.
Marquette Transformation
Bally’s took ownership of Casino Queen Marquette when the riverboat’s previous owner, private equity firm Standard General, acquired Bally’s Corporation for $4.6 billion in 2024. Standard General had previously purchased Queen Casino & Entertainment, Inc.
During Bally’s Marquette’s construction phase, the riverboat remained operational. However, once Bally’s opens this week, the boat will close its doors and be listed for sale.
In addition to the casino, Bally’s Marquette will also introduce a broadened array of dining and beverage options.
The 1994 Sports Bar celebrates the riverboat’s December 1994 inception with classic pub fare and numerous televisions. The Sidecar Bar presents itself as a “vibrant lounge” specializing in handcrafted cocktails. The Riverside Grill will offer fast-casual American cuisine, and Benchfront Coffee will feature specialized coffee beverages.
This move to land has generated nearly 80 new job opportunities and “enhanced the property’s long-term commitment to regional tourism and economic growth.”
The grand opening on Friday will feature live music, a ceremonial ribbon cutting, and “additional surprises.”
For faithful patrons of Casino Queen Marquette, Pinky, the beloved pink elephant that has graced the Mississippi Riverbank for nearly two decades, will remain at its current location.
This roadside attraction was moved to the casino along Great River Road in 2009 after the demolition of the Pink Elephant Hotel & Supper Club.
Revenue Recovery?
Bally’s is making a substantial investment in its Marquette casino strategy. The $26.2 million expenditure exceeds the gross gaming revenue the casino produced in 2025.
Casino Queen Marquette reported a gross gaming revenue (GGR) of $19.9 million in 2025. Out of 19 casinos in Iowa, this figure placed it last. Wild Rose Clinton followed closely in second to last, boasting a GGR of $30.4 million.
The total statewide casino revenue exceeded $1.67 billion, granting Casino Queen Marquette a mere 1.2% market share. Prairie Meadows Racetrack & Casino led the pack with revenue surpassing $234.7 million.
