A newly filed lawsuit argues that a lesbian couple faced discrimination, battery, and negligence at the Strat casino hotel in Las Vegas in May 2024. The complaint, submitted to Clark County District Court on March 10, states that California residents Brianne Garcia and Lelannie Dominguez were forcibly removed from the premises and sustained injuries at the hands of security after showing “affectionate” behavior at a bar located on-site.
The legal document, initially highlighted by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, claims a waitress confronted the couple for being “too affectionate” and told them to stop. Garcia and Dominguez felt targeted because of their sexual orientation and gender, which led the waitress to call a manager who subsequently ordered their removal from the property.
Per the plaintiffs’ account, tensions escalated when a security guard escorted them towards the elevators in a “confrontational and aggressive” manner. The couple began recording the encounter, claiming that they were subsequently subjected to physical aggression by the guard.
The lawsuit indicates that both women experienced significant physical and emotional injuries due to the incident.
Named as defendants are The Strat and its parent company, Golden Entertainment. The complaint lists various allegations, including negligence, battery, and discrimination in a public setting, alongside claims of inadequate hiring, training, and supervision. The couple’s legal representation maintains that the casino did not adequately prepare its staff to address such situations without bias or the use of excessive force.
Seeking damages exceeding $15,000 — the standard civil threshold in Nevada — the plaintiffs are asking for compensation to cover medical bills and lost income. Though the event took place nearly two years prior, the official legal action is being pursued only now.
No public response has been made available from representatives of Golden Entertainment or The Strat regarding these allegations.
