- The Masters starts this Thursday
- Scottie Scheffler remains a top betting choice, albeit with slightly longer odds in 2026
- Sports betting is still prohibited in Georgia, yet prediction markets continue to thrive
Scottie Scheffler, currently the leading golfer in the world, has not participated in competitive play for close to a month. This break comes after the birth of his second son, Remy, just last week.

Scheffler’s absence isn’t the only reason for his increased odds this year compared to 2025.
He hasn’t achieved a top-five finish since February’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, with a notable decline in his iron play—historically his strong suit. Once leading the PGA Tour for three consecutive seasons, he now ranks 82nd in iron play.
In 2025, Scheffler’s odds were comparable to those of a prime Tiger Woods, sitting at +400, indicating a 20% implied chance of clinching his third green jacket. As of this year, Scheffler heads to Augusta with DraftKings rating him at +495 and FanDuel at +550. A successful $100 bet at these lines would return $495 and $550, respectively.
Despite these factors, being part of the smaller major field in golf and retaining his status among the top players in strokes gained, scoring, and putting solidifies Scheffler as the betting favorite.
While Georgia maintains its ban on sports betting, several prediction markets are still open for Masters-related contracts. Notably, DraftKings Predictions and FanDuel Predicts are leading the pack.
Masters Uncertainties
Defending champion Rory McIlroy, who completed his career Grand Slam last year with a playoff victory over friend Justin Rose, is also a popular betting pick. However, there are significant uncertainties regarding McIlroy’s current form.
The world’s second-ranked player has dealt with back issues, previously pulling out of the Arnold Palmer Invitational and performing underwhelmingly at The Players.
Heading to the Masters, McIlroy’s performance remains a question mark. There’s speculation that returning to the site of his first major victory may hinder his focus and performance for a second Masters title and sixth major overall.
These uncertainties are reflected in McIlroy’s odds, currently at +1175 on DraftKings and +1130 on FanDuel, making his odds longer than those of Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau, who sit around +1000.
Masters Prop Bets
Sportsbooks have a variety of bets available for the 2026 Masters. The odds for a winner coming from LIV Golf are set at +440, with notable players including DeChambeau, Rahm, Cameron Smith, Bubba Watson, Charl Schwartzel, Carlos Ortiz, Tom McKibbin, Dustin Johnson, Tyrrell Hatton, and Sergio Garcia.
The over/under for the entire 72-hole winning score is placed at 275.5, while the lowest round is estimated at 64.5. Weather conditions this week are predicted to be firm and fast, potentially making overs more appealing.
Furthermore, the odds for a hole-in-one are set at -125.
