Former President Donald Trump is set to make a return to Las Vegas, where he will deliver a highly anticipated speech on Wednesday, August 5, at 1:30 p.m. local time at the Red Rock Casino Resort.
Following his arrival, Trump will spend the night at the Trump International Hotel Las Vegas, a luxury non-gaming hotel and residential tower he co-owns with billionaire Phil Ruffin.
After attending a scheduled executive session on Wednesday morning, the president’s agenda includes a visit to Red Rock Casino Resort, a Summerlin venue owned by the Fertitta family, known for their longstanding support of the Republican Party and close association with Trump.
During his time at Red Rock, Trump is expected to highlight the positive impact of his policies on Nevada’s working class, focusing primarily on the “No Tax on Tips” initiative.
“President Trump will be in Las Vegas to showcase how his Working Families Tax Cuts are producing tangible benefits for American workers. By implementing the ‘No Tax on Tips’ policy, along with eliminating taxes on Social Security and overtime gains, President Trump and the Republican Party have ensured that Americans can keep more of their hard-earned income,” a statement from the White House disclosed.
“The President will remind the people of Nevada that every single Democrat opposed these sensible reforms while advocating for substantial tax increases on working families,” the White House noted.
Las Vegas Connection
Trump’s previous visit to Las Vegas occurred in April, where he promoted the “No Tax on Tips” program at the newly opened AC Hotel at Symphony Park. During his address, he credited a local waitress for inspiring the idea of tax-free tips.
“Las Vegas is the birthplace of the idea known as ‘No Tax on Tips.’ A young waitress approached me one evening, saying, ‘Sir, we need to eliminate taxes on tips.’ I responded, ‘That’s the best idea I’ve ever heard.’ I went outside and told the media, ‘Ladies and gentlemen, there will be no tax on tips.’ That was that,” Trump recounted.
The vision of “No Tax on Tips” was achieved through the comprehensive legislative package known as the One Big Beautiful Bill, which Trump signed into law on July 4, 2025. For the tax years 2025 to 2028, workers receiving tips can subtract up to $25,000 from their federal income tax obligations.
Democratic leaders have expressed their reluctance to attend Trump’s rally at Red Rock.
“Donald Trump is visiting while Nevadans are struggling with soaring prices for groceries, utilities, housing, and healthcare,” stated Daniele Monroe-Moreno, Chair of the Nevada State Democratic Party.

Midterms on the Horizon
Trump is ramping up his campaign efforts as the November 2026 midterm elections approach. The elections on November 3 will determine control over Congress, as all 435 House of Representatives seats and 35 Senate seats will be contested.
According to the RealClearPolitics Average, a simple mathematical average of recent public opinion data, Trump’s approval rating stands at less than 39%, marking the lowest level during his two terms in office.
This week, the president dismissed polling results in a social media post.
“My TRUE Polling Numbers, unlike those fabricated by the Fake News Media, are the highest they’ve ever been. Why wouldn’t they be, given the most significant tax cuts and employment rates in history, major foreign investment, a secure border, a notable success in Venezuela, the denuclearization of Iran, and unprecedented global respect?” Trump asserted.
