- Resorts World New York City is set to launch table games on April 28
- RWNYC becomes the first establishment in downstate New York to feature live dealer tables
- Hard Rock Metropolitan Park and Bally’s Bronx are projected to open in 2030
Resorts World New York City (RWNYC) will mark a historic milestone as the first casino in the five boroughs to introduce live dealer table games.

In December, Resorts World obtained a comprehensive casino license from the New York State Gaming Commission. This concession includes rights to slot machines, live dealer table games, and sports betting.
On Tuesday, April 28, pending final testing consent, RWNYC will unveil its newly designed third floor featuring over 240 table games. Options will include blackjack, craps, baccarat, and roulette, alongside thousands of slot machines, some offering multimillion-dollar jackpots.
“New York City has never witnessed anything like what we’re about to launch on April 28. Once we finalize the Gaming Commission’s testing, live table games will begin operating right here in Queens for the very first time in NYC history,” stated Robert DeSalvio, president of Genting Americas East, the casino’s parent company.
“This heralds a groundbreaking moment for Resorts World New York City, and we are eager to share it with the residents of New York,” added DeSalvio.
Strategic Opening Advantage
Resorts World New York City stands as one of three full-scale casinos entering NYC, with the others—Hard Rock Metropolitan Park at Willets Point in Queens and Bally’s Bronx at Ferry Point Park—expected to be constructed from the ground up and not slated to open until 2030.
RWNYC, previously a racino featuring slot-like video lottery terminals and electronic table games, will enjoy a significant lead in both slots and table games for a four-year period without local competition. This advantage is projected to allow Resorts World to capture a substantial market share by enrolling rewards members and fostering loyalty.
Genting, based in Malaysia, is allocating $7.5 billion towards revamping the racino, paying a $600 million licensing fee to the state, and committing billions in community benefit promises. A capital investment of $3.3 billion is earmarked for broadening the existing hotel to nearly 2,000 rooms and enhancing the casino offerings to include 4,635 slots, 534 tables, and a sportsbook.
Genting Chairman KT Lim and hip-hop icon Nas, a partner in Resorts World who advocated for RWNYC’s full casino license, will be present next Tuesday to roll the first dice.
Major Hiring Initiative
Queens is already reaping the economic rewards of full-scale casinos. Resorts World announced that the launch of table games coincides with the culmination of an “intensive hiring and training project,” resulting in 1,250 new positions, including 950 table game dealers.
Currently, the RWNYC facility employs 2,200 individuals, and this number is expected to rise to 2,700 employees by this summer.
The Resorts World Dealer School is ongoing, with an additional 500 graduates anticipated next month.
