The attendance at WrestleMania 42, held last weekend in Las Vegas, saw a decline of 15% compared to the previous year, dropping from 124,693 to 106,072, according to WWE’s announcement on Wednesday. Despite this decrease, it was still enough to secure the fourth position among all seven two-night WrestleMania events. WrestleMania 39 in Los Angeles remains the champion with 161,892 attendees at SoFi Stadium, while WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia follows as a close second with 145,298 participants.

Preliminary financial reports suggest that the event may have just missed breaking the record high of $66 million in ticket sales set by WrestleMania 41, likely attributed to increased ticket prices more than attendance figures.
On a more positive note, outside Allegiant Stadium, WWE reported that matches aired on ESPN2 on Saturday garnered the highest viewership of the year for the network, while Sunday’s segments on ESPN were the most viewed programs of the weekend.
The weekend also set new digital milestones, achieving over 1.3 billion views across various social media platforms, marking an 18% increase compared to last year’s record.
WWE World, a five-day interactive fan experience in collaboration with Fanatics, also saw sales reaching “record-breaking highs,” according to WWE.
UnsScripted Incidents
During Saturday’s action, Cody Rhodes successfully defended his WWE championship title against Randy Orton, amid interference from Pat McAfee. Conversely, in Sunday’s finale, Roman Reigns triumphed over CM Punk to win the World Heavyweight Championship.
However, many of the stories that emerged from this year’s WrestleMania revolved around unscripted confrontations outside the ring.
On Sunday night, CM Punk was seen confronting a fan at the MGM Grand, knocking the fan’s phone out of his hand. Video footage shared by TMZ Sports the following morning showed the fan filming Punk’s WWE colleague, Bayley, as she embraced his wife, AJ Lee. Reportedly, the fan had been previously asked to stop filming and allegedly touched Lee after she declined a photo request.
Additionally, Sean Waltman, known to WWE fans as X-Pac, reported on X that he was “physically assaulted” during the event. WWE Hall of Famer Booker T also claimed on his podcast that he was filmed while using the restroom.
“It was the most challenging experience I’ve ever faced regarding fan interactions,” Booker T shared. “Many fans were outright disrespectful.”
