• According to OLG, players will not experience any immediate changes while the new system is developed, which will support existing games like LOTTO MAX and LOTTO 6/49.

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has revealed that it has chosen Intralot Canada Ltd., a subsidiary of Bally’s Intralot Group, to serve as its new technology partner for lottery solutions following a rigorous competitive procurement process.

Revamping Ontario’s Lottery Technology

OLG stated that this partnership marks a significant technological upgrade for the province’s lottery framework. Intralot will replace outdated software, facilitating improved game introductions and enhancing customer satisfaction by modernizing the infrastructure that supports the lottery.

“We are thrilled to collaborate in delivering more engaging lottery experiences, with offerings tailored to better meet customer needs and enhance enjoyment with every play,” said Duncan Hannay, President and CEO of OLG.

“This investment will not only position us for future expansion but also modernize legacy systems and solidify our commitment to giving back to the communities of Ontario.”

Preparing for Future Expansion

The new technological framework for the lottery is expected to be operational by 2029. Intralot Group is one of the globe’s leading lottery and gaming technology providers, functioning in 40 jurisdictions around the world, serving both state and national lotteries.

“Our systems are designed to manage the intricacies, scale, and security requirements inherent in contemporary lottery operations, supported by extensive experience in running critical lottery systems in global markets,” stated Robeson Reeves, CEO of Bally’s Intralot Group. “As the industry evolves, we are dedicated to equipping OLG with the tools, insights, and foundational technology necessary to excel.”

In the meantime, there will be no immediate changes for customers purchasing lottery tickets while the new infrastructure is developed.

No Immediate Changes for Players

OLG’s primary jackpot games comprise LOTTO MAX, LOTTO 6/49, LOTTARIO, and DAILY GRAND. The crown corporation currently lists 16 lottery games on its website, not including PROLINE sports betting and digital casino offerings.

In November, OLG introduced an updated LOTTO MAX, now featuring a jackpot of up to $90 million, an increase from the previous cap of $80 million. Additionally, OLG launched a new $25 million jackpot category (25 new MAXPLUS prizes of $100,000 each).

The MAXPLUS prizes correlate with the jackpot amount, allowing for a tiered prize structure; for instance, when the jackpot reaches $10 million, 10 additional prizes of $100,000 will be awarded, escalating up to 90 additional $100,000 prizes when the jackpot reaches $90 million.
