DAZN, the international leader in sports streaming, has launched a regulated sports betting and casino platform in Ontario. This marks the beginning of a strategic expansion across Canada, according to the company’s statement.

According to Richard Rawlinson, Managing Director of DAZN Bet Canada, winning customer trust over time is essential for operators to stand out in Ontario's competitive igaming market, which currently boasts 47 licensed operators and 81 gaming platforms.
DAZN's Role Among 47 Licensed Operators
This launch in Ontario marks DAZN’s initial entry outside Europe, going live on June 30.
“Ontario is recognized as one of North America’s most advanced, competitive, and strictly regulated online gaming markets,” Rawlinson explained to Casino.org. “Given the variety of choices and high expectations among Ontarian players, our success hinges on providing a unique user experience.”
He emphasized that the newly launched platform, which features a locally customized sportsbook along with a casino offering including slots, table games, and live casino, will lay the groundwork for DAZN’s broader growth plans in Canada.
Upcoming Alberta Expansion
The company has announced its intention to expand into Alberta shortly, positioning itself as one of the initial operators in that market, which launches on July 13.
“Our strategy is to blend the credibility and sports legacy of the DAZN brand with a product specifically designed for Canadian users,” he added. “We also bring a wealth of experience from various regulated markets, enhancing our capabilities in customer-focused product development, compliance, and responsible gaming.”
Innovative Watch and Wager Concept
DAZN Bet is also present in Spain, Italy, the UK, and Germany. Unlike competitors such as FanDuel and DraftKings, DAZN boasts an extensive sports media platform with millions of subscribers, offering live and on-demand sports content across more than 200 countries and territories.
Establishing customer trust, as Rawlinson pointed out, is vital, but the “watch and wager” business model—where users can watch live games, track scores, and place bets—may provide DAZN with a significant advantage in Ontario, provided they can effectively turn viewers into sportsbook users.
DAZN's services are already accessible to those in Ontario. Earlier this year, CEO Shay Segev expressed that he views the betting platform as a complementary service to its broadcasting offerings. The technology behind DAZN Bet was developed in collaboration with Pragmatic Solutions as announced in 2022.
