Morrissey has once again made headlines in Las Vegas. The iconic former frontman of The Smiths has abruptly canceled his planned four-show residency in Sin City just days ahead of the kickoff. Scheduled to take place at the Encore Theater from August 14-15 and August 18-19, this event marked Morrissey’s debut at Wynn Resorts.
On Friday, ticket holders received news that the shows were canceled due to “unexpected logistical challenges,” as reported by Rolling Stone on Saturday (August 8) — with many fans already having arranged travel and accommodation for the performances.
Both Morrissey’s official website and Wynn Resorts have removed the shows from their listings, while Ticketmaster displayed a message to disheartened fans informing them of the cancellation…
The canceled shows were meant to be a significant opening for Morrissey’s summer and fall U.S. tour, promoting his latest album, Make‑Up Is a Lie, which was released on March 6, 2026.
A Word of Caution
In April, Casino.org advised fans to invest in refundable airfare and accommodation prior to booking their commitments. This recommendation came in light of Morrissey’s reputation for frequently canceling or postponing Las Vegas performances.
From 2012 to 2013, he notably postponed a single show at the Cosmopolitan three times before ultimately canceling it. Initially slated for November 23, 2012, it was rescheduled to February 9, 2013, then again to April 20, 2013, with Morrissey attributing the delays to personal and health-related issues, including a bleeding ulcer and pneumonia.
In November 2023, a last-minute cancellation occurred for a House of Blues show at Mandalay Bay, with Morrissey citing “physical exhaustion.”
Moreover, two more scheduled performances at Chelsea were postponed in July 2024 due to “unforeseen circumstances,” followed by two early 2025 cancellations linked to “technical difficulties” and “logistical issues.”
