Bally’s Atlantic City names Tom Pohlman as new president. Pohlman, with 15 years of experience in Atlantic City’s Marina District, confirmed the appointment on Monday.
“Bally’s, located at the iconic intersection of Park Place and the Boardwalk, has a rich history and great potential,” he said in a Facebook post.
Pohlman expressed his excitement to take on the new role, meeting the Bally’s team, and greeting guests. He added, “The future is bright, and I’m privileged to lead the next chapter of Bally’s Atlantic City.”
This appointment brings a wealth of local casino experience to Bally’s. Pohlman most recently served as the General Manager of Golden Nugget Atlantic City until stepping down in May. During his time there, he managed the 717-room resort, over 2,200 employees, and both gaming and non-gaming operations.
Pohlman has over 28 years of leadership experience in the hospitality and gaming industry, specializing in casino operations, surveillance, and risk management. He is known for building high-performing teams, enhancing regulatory and stakeholder relationships, and fostering a culture of accountability, service excellence, and operational integrity.
His expertise also includes profit and loss management, overseeing large-scale renovations, optimizing labor, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Pohlman was the longest-serving casino general manager in Atlantic City before leaving Golden Nugget.
George Goldhoff, President of the Casino Association of New Jersey, expressed his satisfaction with Pohlman’s appointment at Bally’s Atlantic City.
“It’s great to see Tom Pohlman joining Bally’s Atlantic City as president,” said Goldhoff, who also serves as the President of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City. “He has earned a reputation as one of the most reliable figures in Atlantic City during his 15 years at the Golden Nugget, and Bally’s will benefit from his experience and leadership.”
With Pohlman’s local market experience, Bally’s aims to strengthen its presence in Atlantic City while its parent company pursues a broader national expansion strategy. Bally’s is working on expanding its casino footprint in markets such as New York, Chicago, and Las Vegas, positioning the Atlantic City property within a wider national portfolio.
Bally’s Corp. remains committed to keeping its Atlantic City casino operational, even as it plans to build a new one in New York City that will compete with it.
