Betsson, a Swedish-based gaming giant, has re-entered the Ontario regulated iGaming scene by acquiring Casino Days from Rhino Entertainment Group, solidifying its direct B2C footprint in the region.

On Monday, August 3, 2026, Betsson announced that it has finalized its acquisition, initially revealed in March. The deal includes a suite of technology assets from Rhino’s B2B sector, comprising front-end and middleware solutions.
Betsson’s Comeback in Ontario
According to a statement from the company, “This technology will enhance Betsson’s B2B capabilities and is anticipated to generate additional licensing revenue within this segment.”
Previously, Betsson made its entry into Ontario with its Betsafe brand in February 2023. However, the site ceased operations on March 31, 2026, with a notice indicating that the Betsafe Ontario application would be “temporarily unavailable.”
Transition of Casino Days
Betsafe has been removed from the iGaming Ontario database of licensed operators.
Founded in 2020, Rhino Entertainment Group operates Casino Days in Ontario, which launched in February 2023, along with other brands like Big Boost and Lucky Spins. These brands have been licensed through the Kahnawake Gaming Commission (KGC) since 2022, allowing for their availability across other Canadian markets.
Expansion Plans in Canada
On July 13, Casino Days expanded into Alberta’s newly established competitive and regulated iGaming market, joining a total of 22 websites that went live that day.
The comprehensive acquisition cost for Betsson’s purchase of Rhino amounts to €64.5 million (US$74.3 million). As one of the leading online gaming companies globally, Betsson provides a diverse array of services, including sports betting, online casino games, poker, and bingo across 20 brands in regulated markets worldwide.
As noted in a statement on March 12, 2026, “The acquired business currently caters to Canadian customers and is well-positioned to grow into additional Canadian provinces as the local regulatory environment continues to evolve.”
