The Director of College Scouting for the Arizona Cardinals has been suspended indefinitely for violating NFL gambling regulations. This includes allegations of revealing confidential information regarding the Cardinals’ draft choices for the 2026 NFL Draft prior to the official announcements.
According to a statement from the NFL issued on Friday (July 17), an investigation revealed that Ryan Gold reportedly not only disclosed sensitive information but also placed parlay bets on various NFL and college football games, actions that breach league gambling policies.
Suspension Announced by NFL

The NFL has not disclosed who received the confidential information regarding the Cardinals' draft decisions.
“The Gambling Policy, which is reviewed every year with all NFL personnel, clearly prohibits anyone associated with the NFL from engaging in or facilitating any type of sports wagering, and from sharing non-public information with external parties,” the NFL stated.
“While there is no evidence to suggest that the integrity of any NFL game was compromised, the League treats any breach of the Gambling Policy with utmost seriousness.”
Sensitive Draft Information
The NFL also noted that the Cardinals have cooperated fully with the investigation and there is no indication that any other personnel within the organization were aware of or participated in the misconduct, according to the AP.
Gold was elevated to the position of Director of College Scouting with the Cardinals in June 2025. He has been part of the team for 13 years, also holding roles as Assistant Director of College Scouting and College Scouting Coordinator.
Cardinals Stand Behind the Decision
Gold has the option to appeal the suspension.
“The NFL’s policies and expectations for all staff are explicit, thorough, and consistently communicated,” the Cardinals remarked in a statement.
“We fully endorse the league’s decision regarding this situation, which involves a single employee. Our primary focus remains on readiness for the upcoming training camp next week and the 2026 season ahead.”
