A temporary election worker was reportedly assaulted while waiting for a bus in Las Vegas.
The victim, identified as Brandi Lapriore, stated that she was punched in the face and had her knee stepped on by the assailant.
The incident occurred at a bus stop on Eastern Avenue on October 26.
The report is being investigated by Clark County officials, the Nevada Secretary of State’s office, and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), according to KLAS.
An unnamed Clark County official confirmed that an incident involving a temporary election worker at a bus stop took place. The official stated that the matter is currently under investigation.
The assault began when the man inquired about the bus schedule from Lapriore.
She was wearing an orange t-shirt with the message, “Don’t lose your voice. Vote!” The conversation then shifted to the presidential race.
Lapriore explained that she avoids discussing politics at work and asked the man to stop engaging in the conversation about the US Constitution.
After being repeatedly questioned by the man, Lapriore requested him to stop bothering her, which escalated to the assault.
Punched in Face
Lapriore revealed to KLAS that the man walked towards her, chest-bumped her, and proceeded to punch her twice in the face. She fell to the ground, and he stepped on her knee.
When a bus arrived, the suspect boarded it. Lapriore then informed the LVMPD, who responded to the scene. She reported that the man falsely claimed she had assaulted him.
The man was a stranger to Lapriore before the attack. She stated, “I’ve never seen him before. I haven’t seen him since.”
Possible Felony
According to KLAS, a recent law deems it a felony to attack, threaten, or intimidate an election worker.
Following the incident, Lapriore purchased an electric bike and has opted not to use public transportation anymore.
Photographs provided to KLAS show Lapriore with a bloody nose and bruised limb.
In an interview, Lapriore expressed her hope that the assailant faces consequences for his actions.
Among the races to be determined on Election Day are the presidential candidates, former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.
