Cordish Gaming Group has named Jason Birney as the new Executive Vice President and General Manager of Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia.

In this pivotal position, Birney will manage the daily activities of the South Philadelphia venue, taking charge of gaming, hotel management, food and beverage services, marketing, and guest satisfaction. He will spearhead strategies focused on achieving operational excellence, stimulating business growth, and elevating the overall guest experience.

Bringing over 20 years of experience in the gaming sector, Birney previously held the role of Head of Interactive Operations at Penn Entertainment, overseeing various interactive gaming platforms, including ESPN BET, Hollywood Casino, and theScore products. His duties encompassed casino development, sportsbook management, omnichannel marketing, VIP relations, product operations, trading, and media sales.

Prior to his time at Penn Entertainment, Birney served in multiple prominent leadership roles there for nearly 17 years. These roles included Vice President and General Manager of Hollywood Casino Columbus, Vice President and General Manager of Hollywood Gaming Dayton Raceway, Vice President and Assistant General Manager at Hollywood Casino Columbus, and Vice President of Marketing for Hollywood Casino Columbus and Hollywood Casino Toledo.

Birney’s career in gaming began with Caesars Entertainment, where he worked in marketing positions at Harrah’s and Showboat in Atlantic City, New Jersey, as well as at Harrah’s Philadelphia. He was recognized in 2018 by Global Gaming Business Magazine as one of its Emerging Leaders of Gaming “40 Under 40.”

He holds a Bachelor of Science from Florida Southern College and a Master of Business Administration from Rutgers University.
