John Mayer headlines a series of shows at the Sphere with three unique sets in April 2027. The residency features Mayer performing solo, with a full band, and with the John Mayer Trio.

The solo set showcases Mayer on acoustic guitar, piano, and electric guitar. The Trio set reunites Mayer with bassist Pino Palladino and drummer Steve Jordan, marking their first live performance since 2023. (Palladino replaced John Entwistle in The Who while Jordan replaced Charlie Watts in the Rolling Stones.)

Mayer’s residency dates are April 8, 10, 11, 15, 17, and 18, with potential additional shows if they sell out quickly.

This will be Mayer’s debut as a solo artist at the Sphere, having previously performed 48 shows with Dead and Co. in 2024 and 2025 before Bob Weir passed away in 2026.

Pre-sales start at 10 a.m. PT on Wednesday (Oct. 7) with registration at noon on Mayer’s website. General ticket sales begin at 10 a.m. PT on Friday (Oct. 9) at ticketmaster.com.

Metallica singer James Hetfield visited the Punk Rock Museum while preparing for his Sphere residency, starting on Thursday (Oct. 1).

The Punk Rock Museum posted a photo of Hetfield in a Misfits T-shirt in front of the entrance.

“Thanks to James Hetfield from @metallica for stopping by and checking out the museum today!” the post read, with Metallica’s official Instagram page responding: “So THAT’S where he was!”

Metallica covered the Misfits’ songs “Last Caress” and “Green Hell” on their 1987 release, $5.98 E.P. —Garage Days Re-Revisited.

Former Misfits guitarist Dez Cadena often gives tours of the museum showcasing Misfits artifacts, such as Jerry Only’s smashed bass in a coffin case.

Alice Cooper and Criss Angel have added two new dates to their Planet Hollywood residency “Welcome to Our Nightmare,” due to high demand. The production now includes Nov. 29 and Dec. 6, both on Sundays.

Held in the Criss Angel Theater, the 90-minute show blends Cooper’s hard-rock performance with Angel’s grand illusions. The setlist includes hits like “Poison”, “I’m 18”, “School’s Out”, and “You and Me”.
