A late-night sting operation at the Paris Las Vegas casino captured a woman in possession of numerous room key cards, identification cards, and drugs, as per the records from the Las Vegas police, reported by KLAS-TV/Las Vegas.

On June 8, 2026, undercover officers positioned a pink-and-purple handbag on the casino floor, closely monitoring the area. This was part of a typical “purse bait” operation, designed to catch individuals targeting unattended valuables in busy tourist spots.

Just after 10:30 PM, officers reportedly witnessed a man and a woman communicating through gestures before the man seized the handbag. The woman, identified as Betty Luke, 33, allegedly stashed it in a black backpack and proceeded toward the resort’s west exit alongside the man.

Uniformed officers intervened as the pair stepped onto the Strip. A search of Luke’s backpack allegedly revealed the decoy purse as well as 10 credit and debit cards, two Social Security cards, five identification documents, 44 hotel keys, and 19 loyalty cards, none of which belonged to Luke, in addition to methamphetamine and a pipe.

As per the arrest report, Luke claimed she discovered the cards and retained them because she frequently communicated with a man who accepted such information in trade for free meth, marijuana, or hotel accommodations.

Authorities stated that the 44 hotel keys found were not linked to any active guest rooms and thus could not unlock any hotel doors.

The male individual accompanying Luke was not arrested.

Investigators noted that Luke had a prior criminal record, including a 2023 arrest for conspiracy to commit fraud and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Luke was booked into the Clark County Detention Center and remains in custody, per KLAS. She is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, June 25.

The police did not disclose the identity of the man alleged to be Luke’s accomplice.
