Macau is expecting a significant recovery in gaming revenue after rebounding 334% last year. Experts anticipate that the Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR) will recover to 82% of 2019 levels this year, which would represent a more than 30% year-over-year improvement.

2024 Outlook

The Hong Kong-based financial services firm CLSA Limited projects 2024 casino win to total around $29.8 billion, a significant increase from 2019. The firm also expects the 2024 holidays in Macau to be robust, with major holidays like Chinese New Year, Labor Day, and National Day.

Visitors Needed

Analysts believe that for gaming to continue its rebound, Macau must further attract new visitors and convert some to become mass market gamblers. However, there are some doubts whether the region will return to 2019 visitation levels this year due to various challenges and subdued visitation optimism.
