- According to a WalletHub study, Las Vegas is the top US city for celebrating Independence Day.
- Las Vegas outperformed cities like New York, Orlando, and Los Angeles.
- The city’s reputation stems from its diverse entertainment options and typically dry July climate, perfect for fireworks.
A recent survey indicates that the entertainment hub of the US, rather than the capital, is the prime location to celebrate the 250th Independence Day anniversary.

Independence Day, July 4, commemorates the Continental Congress’s adoption of the Declaration of Independence, even though the signing occurred on August 2, 1776. While multiple celebratory events are scheduled in Washington, DC, WalletHub suggests Las Vegas as the superior choice for Independence Day festivities and firework displays.
Las Vegas received excellent ratings for affordability, celebrations, attractions, and activities related to the Fourth of July, securing the top spot among the 100 most populous cities in the US.
“Las Vegas is the premier destination for July 4 festivities, thanks to its abundance of activities and entertainment options. It is also recognized as one of the best cities for affordable dining on Independence Day,” the WalletHub team highlighted.
Researchers also noted Las Vegas’ relatively low incidents of fatal crashes related to drunk driving, attributed to the wide availability of rideshare services and public transport. Weather concerns that could dampen firework displays are minimal, as Southern Nevada typically experiences only two to four rainy days in July.
Following Las Vegas in the rankings were New York, Orlando, Los Angeles, and Minneapolis as the top five places to celebrate July 4th. Washington, DC, ranked at No. 16.
Fourth of July in Las Vegas
National roadside assistance non-profit AAA estimates that 72.2 million Americans will be on the move this Fourth of July. This reflects a slight increase compared to last year’s record of 71.8 million people traveling at least 50 miles from their homes.
Las Vegas is set to attract millions, with the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority (LVCVA) organizing a special fireworks event on July 4th as part of America250, Congress’s official initiative to commemorate the 250th anniversary across the nation. Fireworks displays from nine resorts in Las Vegas will be synchronized for a spectacular show on July 4th.
As of June 24, there are plenty of reasonably priced hotel rooms available in Las Vegas for a two-night stay during the July 4 holiday period.
For the dates from Friday, July 3, to Sunday, July 5, including all taxes and fees, the rates are as follows: Sahara is $406, Park MGM is $655, and Circa is $675. For those seeking luxury, Caesars Palace is priced at $758, Bellagio at $1,054, and Wynn and Encore at $1,200.
These quoted prices include necessary resort fees.
Financial Concerns
The WalletHub report highlighted that many Americans are facing concerns regarding inflation and artificial intelligence.
The study found that six out of ten Americans intend to spend less this Independence Day compared to last year. Approximately 60% report that rising fuel prices will affect their plans, and nearly half feel that their financial future is at risk due to AI advancements.
