Here are 10 notable names in alphabetical order who left their mark on Sin City. Dirk Arthur’s daring show, “Arthur’s Wild Magic,” existed in various forms at different Vegas venues, but it remains beloved by fans. The official last exotic cat show of Las Vegas was Arthur’s “Dirk Arthur’s Wild Illusions,” and that ended in 2015 at the Riviera, not long before the hotel itself closed. Magician Dirk Arthur passed away on Oct. 13 at age 63. Several big-name casino resorts in Las Vegas hosted residencies for singer Harry Belafonte, who defied segregation by not allowing him to stay at the venues prior to 1960. He ended up marrying Julie Robinson at Caesars Palace in 1976. Belafonte passed away on April 23 at the age of 96. Tony Bennett, the epitome of classic cool, had several hundred performances on the Las Vegas Strip between El Rancho Vegas in 1952 and the Venetian Theater in 2019. He passed away on July 21 at the age of 96. Doyle Brunson, the protégé of poker, won 10 World Series of Poker tournaments, including the main event in 1976 and 1977. He settled in Las Vegas in the 1970s with his wife, Louise. Doyle Brunson died on May 14 at the age of 89. Singer and songwriter Jimmy Buffett’s hit “Margaritaville” led to a string of successful bars and restaurants, including one at the Flamingo in Las Vegas, which he opened in 2003. When Buffett passed away on Sept. 1 at age 76. Finally, comedian Pat Cooper, who was known for his bold personality, was frequently chosen as the opening act for stars in Las Vegas. Cooper died on June 6, aged 93. These performers, as well as Lisa Marie Presley, Suzanne Somers, Tina Turner, and Raquel Welch, made an impact on the Las Vegas entertainment scene.
