Social Gaming Leadership Alliance appoints Sean Ostrow as executive director and increases board size

The Social Gaming Leadership Alliance (SGLA) has announced the appointment of Sean J. Ostrow as the new executive director, succeeding Jeff Duncan, who will now serve on the organization’s board of directors, along with the addition of four new board members.

Ostrow, who has been the managing director of SGLA since October 2025, is set to lead the organization in its ongoing efforts to promote what they define as “Social Plus” gaming, while emphasizing responsible gaming practices and regulatory compliance. Duncan, who previously held the role of executive director, is now part of the board.

Prior to his role at SGLA, Ostrow worked as a consultant and strategist at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, where he contributed to policy initiatives for the Sports Betting Alliance and provided counsel to major clients such as Major League Baseball, the National Basketball Association, and the PGA Tour. Earlier in his career, he was employed at FanDuel, where SGLA reported that he played a pivotal role in advancing fantasy sports legislation across various U.S. states.

“Sean has played a key role in establishing the Social Gaming Leadership Alliance as a leading voice for the Social Plus gaming sector,” Duncan stated in a press release. “He has showcased the strategic foresight and policy acumen necessary to further the organization’s aims.”

SGLA also introduced four newly appointed board members: Derek Brinkman, Chief New Products Officer at VGW; Jeff Duncan, Founding Partner at Covenant Government Affairs; Lloyd Melnick, Chief Government Affairs Officer at VGW; and Bryan Schroeder, General Counsel at ARB Interactive.

Brinkman supervises VGW’s new products and their profit-and-loss obligations while further supporting its Social Plus business. Melnick previously held the position of Chief Growth Officer and General Manager of Chumba Casino before transitioning to his current governmental role.

Schroeder brought his legal and compliance leadership experiences from Tipico North America and Hard Rock Digital before joining ARB Interactive.

“As I move to the Board of Directors, I am confident that Sean is the right leader to steer SGLA into its next growth phase and to persist in advocating for innovation, responsible social gameplay, and sensible regulatory frameworks,” Duncan remarked.

The new appointments enhance SGLA’s leadership team as the organization strives to push for regulatory frameworks around Social Plus games.
