High-end casino resorts are progressively targeting guests who want to rejuvenate after a trip by providing IV therapy designed to combat hangovers, dehydration, and vitamin deficiencies. Starting in August, Mohegan Sun in Connecticut will join this trend by launching this innovative wellness offering.
On Monday (July 20), Mohegan Sun unveiled the launch of Second Wind IV Therapy. Located in The Shops at Mohegan Sun, Second Wind presents a variety of IV therapies, including hydration, injectable wellness solutions, peptides, and options for weight management.
Second Wind delightfully names its “signature infusions” to connect with Mohegan Sun’s gaming clientele.
The “High Roller” offers a $329 package focused on enhancing energy, recovery, antioxidant defenses, and overall wellness. Meanwhile, the “Full House Defense” aims to boost the body’s natural defenses using a thoughtfully crafted mix of hydration, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.
Second Wind will operate Thursday through Saturday from 10 am to 10 pm, and Sunday from 9 am to 5 pm.
Casino IV Therapy Experience
Forget the lavish buffets or the latest luxury suites—an increasing number of guests at casino resorts are seeking out IV drips during their vacations, bachelor and bachelorette gatherings, and business trips.
Jeff Hamilton, president and general manager of Mohegan Sun, states that Second Wind “provides an elevated approach to wellness, recovery, and performance that enhances the entire guest experience with us.”
Mohegan Sun is introducing this IV therapy trend to Connecticut, offering a luxury amenity that its main competitor, Foxwoods Resort Casino, currently does not feature. However, Mohegan isn’t the only major casino resort to embrace on-site IV therapies.
This IV therapy trend has become a common feature in Las Vegas, where many leading resorts like Wynn and Encore, Bellagio, Caesars Palace, The Venetian, and Resorts World have dedicated IV therapy retail spaces.
Pricing for IV drips on the Las Vegas Strip can be considerably higher than in other regions, with the Clean Market IV Drip Lounge at Wynn Las Vegas offering a $1,000 package that claims to deliver the “highest level of detox.”
Effectiveness of IV Therapy
After a night of indulgence, who wouldn’t want to instantly feel revitalized? However, the benefits claimed by IV therapy providers remain contentious.
Health professionals suggest that IV fluids do indeed hydrate individuals more swiftly than traditional drinks, as the IV drip bypasses the digestive system and directly enters the bloodstream. IV drips are generally effective for severe dehydration, though for mild cases, most people can sufficiently rehydrate with water.
As for claims related to detoxification, immunity enhancement, anti-aging, and weight management, medical experts remain skeptical.
“Only a handful of studies have evaluated the efficacy of these vitamin blends in individuals without genuine vitamin or mineral deficiencies or chronic illnesses,” stated Claire Murphy, MD, a pathologist and medical director at PeaceHealth’s Riverbend Hospital Laboratory and Blood Bank in Oregon, in an interview with AOL.
