An 81-year-old woman is currently in critical condition after being struck by a truck at the Las Vegas Strip, according to recent reports. The incident occurred on Tuesday, and the woman received emergency treatment for her injuries at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where she remains. The exact nature of her injuries has not yet been disclosed. Meanwhile, an 82-year-old man also suffered minor injuries in the accident and was taken to the same hospital for treatment.
The incident took place at around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Sahara Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard. The two pedestrians were using the crosswalk when they were hit by a 2005 Ford F150 pickup truck. The truck, which had been stopped for a red light, moved forward unexpectedly and collided with the pedestrians, causing them to fall to the ground.
Local authorities have not released the names of the victims, and the driver of the truck has not been identified either. However, the driver did cooperate with police officers at the scene and did not appear to be impaired. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section is currently investigating the incident.
Another Incident at Harry Reid International Airport
In a separate incident, a man named Rodney Spears was taken into custody after trespassing on a runway at Harry Reid International Airport. The incident occurred on Friday morning when Spears climbed over a fence topped with razor wire and entered the runway area. He was apprehended by local police and charged with trespassing, violation of airport rules, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
During a search, officers found 1.6 grams of a white crystal substance, which later tested positive for methamphetamine, on a piece of paper in Spears’ possession. They also discovered a glass pipe with suspected drug residue. Spears has since been released from custody, and it is unclear why he decided to trespass on the runway.
