Las Vegas Strip Entertainment Goes Dark for Inaugural F1 Grand Prix

Las Vegas is bracing for the F1 Grand Prix running from November 16-18, and as a result, the regularly scheduled entertainment around the Las Vegas Strip has been canceled. This decision could be due to the significant detours and delays expected around the affected streets. Heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic will have to contend with restrictions on Las Vegas Boulevard, Koval Lane, Harmon Avenue, and Sands Avenue from 5 p.m. through 6 a.m. the following day on Thursday through Saturday.

The shift in attention from regular shows to the F1 Grand Prix may be due to low ticket sales, eliciting speculation that typical Vegas tourists opted to avoid the coming weekend. Several well-known headliners have canceled their shows during the race weekend. The MGM Grand has made significant changes, with several shows going dark, including “Ka” by Cirque du Soleil and performances by Tape Face and Jabbawockeez.

Similarly, performers at venues such as the Bellagio, Treasure Island, and the Luxor will not be taking the stage as they normally would. At the same time, other entertainers have adjusted showtimes to earlier in the evening to accommodate F1 attendees.
