Atlantic City Fire Chief Scott Evans called the fire at Resorts Casino Hotel “pretty serious,” The Atlantic City firefighters quickly doused the exterior of the damaged casino, with no injuries reported in the incident. At the time of writing, fire officials were still investigating the cause of the fire.

Boardwalk Cut Open

Crews had to use chainsaws to open up the Boardwalk to extinguish flames which originated underneath the wooden structure, WPVI reported. The two-alarm fire was brought under control in about 40 minutes.

Restaurant Customers Flee

Some prior fires on the Boardwalk have been linked to homeless residents lighting fires under the Boardwalk in colder weather, which accidentally ignited the wooden structure. At times, flames from their fires accidentally have ignited the wooden structure.

Atlantic City Department of Public Works Boardwalk crews assisted in repairing the area following the fire.

Fire officials didn’t immediately provide a damage estimate.
