Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud is currently in concussion protocol with his Week 16 status uncertain after sustaining an injury on the field. If Stroud doesn’t clear protocol soon, veteran backup Case Keenum will take his place for the upcoming matchup against the Cleveland Browns.
Stroud was the second-overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and is the favorite to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year, despite his possible absence against the Browns. The Texans are one of four 8-6 teams vying for a wildcard playoff spot, and still maintain a 57% chance of making the postseason.
The Browns, now without starting quarterback Deshaun Watson who is out for the season due to injury, have turned to Joe Flacco, winning two out of three games since his arrival. Nevertheless, the Texans are underdogs without Stroud and are facing a 2.5-point spread against the Browns. The Colts and Jaguars are also competing for the AFC South division title, with the Jaguars currently favored to win at -130 odds.
The Texans have two home games left before the regular season ends, hoping for a strong finish to secure a playoff spot.
