Prosecutors say Thanakorn, a migrant from Thailand, stole tens of thousands of dollars from the casino where he worked. He pleaded guilty to several charges, including breach of trust and misappropriation.

Despite facing a potential 25-year sentence, Thanakorn received 12 to 14 months in prison after pleading guilty.

After serving his sentence, Thanakorn will be deported to Thailand.

Casino Swindler

Singapore authorities did not disclose how Thanakorn’s scheme was uncovered, but evidence showed how he stole money from the casino.

Prosecutors stated that Thanakorn used sleight of hand to steal gaming chips and launder the money through two female gamblers who exchanged the chips for cash.

Thanakorn was caught on camera performing the illegal act multiple times, pocketing over $40,000 that belonged to the casino.

Thanakorn worked as a dealer for various table games at the casino. The female gamblers involved in the scheme are also facing legal consequences.

During a police raid at Thanakorn’s residence, authorities recovered the stolen chips. Thanakorn admitted to sending some of the money back to Thailand to help his family.

Prosecutors do not expect any further restitution from Thanakorn.

Dealer Scandals

The casino dealer theft at Resorts World Sentosa is the latest criminal incident to impact Singapore’s gaming industry.

Previously, a dealer at Marina Bay Sands was involved in a scheme to manipulate the game and share the winnings with a player. Both individuals were sentenced to prison for their actions.

Resorts World Sentosa and Marina Bay Sands are the main players in Singapore’s casino industry.
