- Los Angeles Dodgers favored at -210 odds at BetMGM for World Series Game 4; Toronto Blue Jays at +170
- Ohtani’s MVP odds shift to -380 following a phenomenal Game 3
- Strikeout forecasts for Ohtani and Bieber predicted to attract uneven betting interest
As many on the East Coast recover from the intriguing 6-hour, 39-minute, 18-inning thriller in Game 3, where the Dodgers triumphed over the Blue Jays 6-5 thanks to a walk-off home run by Freddie Freeman, all eyes turn to Game 4 tonight at 8 p.m. EST, just 17 hours later.

Springer Injury Concerns
For Blue Jays bettors, there’s little reassurance this morning. The main story from last night’s game was the serious injury sustained by George Springer.
Springer took a swing in the seventh inning and immediately showed signs of discomfort. He underwent an MRI, indicating a core issue that could hinder his ability to generate the necessary power for hitting.
As noted by Sportsnet commentator Buck Martinez, injuries of this nature are often prolonged, suggesting that Springer – a key player for the Blue Jays this season – will likely miss tonight’s match.
If he’s unable to play, Bo Bichette, who is also dealing with a knee problem, may shift to designated hitter, with Isiah Kiner-Falefa stepping in at second base.
Bieber’s Unpredictable Performance
Shane Bieber, the Blue Jays’ starting pitcher tonight, remains an unpredictable factor for bettors.
Since returning from Tommy John surgery, his postseason performance has been mediocre. He struggled in Game 7 of the ALCS against the Mariners (3.2 IP, 7 hits, 2 runs) and was subpar in Game 3 of the ALDS against the Yankees (2.2 IP, 5 hits, 3 runs), despite a solid outing in a critical Game 3 against the Mariners.
He will be starting on seven days’ rest tonight.
Ohtani’s Remarkable Game
After the intense Game 3, the condition of each team’s bullpen remains a question. Dodgers relievers delivered 13 1/3 scoreless innings, while the Blue Jays’ bullpen allowed three runs over 12 2/3 innings, highlighted by Eric Lauer’s impressive performance.
Shohei Ohtani, who astounded everyone with two home runs, two doubles, and reaching base an incredible nine times, is set to take the mound for the Dodgers tonight. He previously struck out 10 batters in his NLCS start against the Brewers.
“He’s exhausted,” Roberts told Sportsnet. “He had a remarkable performance at the plate, but he’ll be ready to pitch tonight.”
In Toronto, much of the conversation revolves around the performance of plate umpire Mark Wegner, especially regarding a questionable strike called on Daulton Varsho. The call, which appeared incorrect and delayed, led to a base-running blunder by Bichette.
However, blaming the umpires may not be warranted when contending with a player like Ohtani. It’s unlikely the Jays will pitch to him tonight, given his impressive track record against their pitching staff.
Gimenez Home Run Odds
Phill Gray, a former trading director at Sports Interaction and current sports betting consultant, expects significant action on the strikeout projections for both Ohtani and Bieber tonight – with Ohtani’s Over 6.5 (-119) and Bieber’s Under 4.5 (+106).
“Can Ohtani repeat his success even while pitching? +1 HR is valued at +206 and seems to be the most popular wager,” he noted. “The Blue Jays’ bottom order is performing well, and late-game fatigue might lead to some interest in Ernie Clement (+1040) or Andres Gimenez (+1360) hitting a home run.”
Anticipating High Scores?
FanDuel sets the Over/Under at 8 (-114 for Over, -106 for Under), while ESPN BET lists it at 8.5 (Even for Over, -120 for Under).
“This is intriguing considering both teams’ offenses, and if we see intense bullpen action, the total could exceed expectations. Ohtani will pitch, but given that the Jays tend not to strike out often, it’ll be interesting to see if they can capitalize on a fatigued pitcher. A notable prop to consider is “pitcher to record the win” – Ohtani +112, and Bieber at an eye-catching +465.
“For betting on the first five innings, the Jays are at +180, which could see a lot of action due to its traditional appeal. Currently, the moneyline and total bets appear evenly distributed, but 75% of the action is on the Dodgers covering the run line at -1.5 -103.”
BetMGM shows the Blue Jays at +170, the Dodgers at -210, the Run Line at Jays +0.5 (+115), Dodgers -0.5 (-150), with O/U at 8 (-110).
Following last night’s performance, Ohtani’s MVP odds are now at -380 on FanDuel.
