The winning numbers for the Powerball drawing on April 6 were 7, 24, 37, 42, 57, with the red Powerball being 5.

A lucky ticket from Delaware matched all six drawn numbers, securing an estimated jackpot of $231 million, with a lump-sum cash option of $104.9 million.

These amounts are prior to a 37% federal tax and a 6.6% state tax deduction in Delaware. If the winner chooses the lump sum, they will take home around $59.2 million. Alternatively, the annuity, which is paid over 29 years, would total approximately $131.4 million.

Details of the Win

As of 9:30 AM today, the Delaware Lottery has not yet commented on the recent Powerball win.

In Delaware, lottery winners must claim their prizes within a year of the drawing, and those winning over $5,000 must do so at the Delaware Lottery Office in Dover.

While Delaware offers iGaming and online sports betting, lottery tickets must be purchased in person at retail locations. The exact location where the winning ticket was sold has not been disclosed by the Delaware Lottery yet.

Lottery regulations in Delaware permit winners at all levels to remain anonymous.

The jackpot ticket wasn’t the only significant win last night. The April 6 Powerball drawing included a ticket that matched all five white balls but not the red Powerball, winning the second-best prize of $1 million. This ticket had the optional Power Play add-on that doubled its payout to $2 million, as the Power Play multiplier landed on 2X. This ticket was sold in Texas.

Eight tickets managed to match four white balls and the red Powerball, earning them $50,000 each, while another five who matched four white balls plus the Powerball with the Power Play saw their winnings double to $100,000.

In total, 415,213 Powerball tickets won various prizes, although 406,231 of those tickets won $8 or less.

Mega Millions Reaches $100M

Following the Powerball win, the jackpot resets to $20 million for the upcoming Wednesday drawing. Meanwhile, Mega Millions boasts a higher jackpot, currently at $100 million ($44.7 million cash option) for tonight’s drawing.

Both Powerball and Mega Millions have started strong in 2026, with their jackpots hitting five times already. Powerball alone has seen three hits, while Mega Millions has had two. The biggest prize thus far was a Mega Millions jackpot worth $536 million from the March 10 drawing.

In 2025, both the Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots each reached six significant milestones.
