The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police have taken a fifth suspect into custody regarding the investigation of a pipe bomb explosion that occurred outside Piero’s, a prominent Italian eatery in proximity to the Las Vegas Convention Center. According to KLAS-TV/Las Vegas, detectives arrested 52‑year‑old Robert Schwieger on April 15, 2026. He is facing several felony charges, including conspiracy to commit arson, first-degree arson, and utilizing an explosive to damage or destroy property. Schwieger has been booked at the Clark County Detention Center.

This incident traces back to the explosion of a pipe bomb on November 13, 2025, at 2:19 a.m. Surveillance video captured two men igniting the device using a fuse bought from a fireworks store in Moapa, Nevada, which serves as a crucial piece of evidence for the grand jury.

The blast caused limited exterior damage, allowing the restaurant to reopen later that same day.

In December 2025, a grand jury in Clark County indicted John Navarro, 35; Sarah Hernandez, 34; and Phillip Gonzales, 54.

Navarro was arrested on November 15, 2025, just two days after the explosion. He remains behind bars, contending with additional charges for illegally carrying a concealed weapon and possessing a controlled substance (less than 14 grams of methamphetamine).

Hernandez and Gonzalez, identified by police as being in a romantic relationship, were detained on December 7, 2025, but were released on bond following their indictments. Neither appeared for their scheduled court dates, resulting in bench warrants for their arrest. They are currently fugitives.

While details regarding Schwieger’s specific involvement have not been publicly disclosed, his charges align closely with those of the other defendants.

Navarro’s trial, which was supposed to start on April 12, 2026, has been postponed due to outstanding pretrial motions. The investigation into this case remains ongoing.

Who is Not a Suspect

In April of last year, Evan Glusman, the son of Piero’s founder Freddie Glusman and previously the restaurant’s operating manager, was arrested for making violent threats at Piero’s. His attorney has confirmed that he is not considered a suspect in the bombing incident.

Following this, Piero’s was sold by Glusman to Amazing Brands, a restaurant company led by Stephen Siegel and his wife, Judi Perez Siegel, who also own Siegel’s Bagelmania and Pinkbox Doughnuts.

According to the arrest report for Evan Glusman, he had taken out a fraudulent $1.5 million loan against the restaurant, claiming ownership when he was merely its operating manager. Upon discovering this, Freddie Glusman terminated his son’s employment.

This allegedly prompted the younger Glusman to send a text that stated, “I hope you realize I’m drinking and I’m going home to get a gun and fucking kill them in the middle of Piero’s.”

Evan faced charges for making threats and conveying false information related to terrorist acts and harassment. On May 20, 2025, he pleaded no contest to a lesser harassment charge, receiving a stayed adjudication, which means there was no formal conviction, provided he completed four weeks of outpatient treatment and maintained a clean legal record.
